Congregation B’nai Israel Membership

Welcome to Congregation B’nai Israel!

We are so pleased that you’ve decided to join our extended “family”.  As we get to know you, we hope you will join us at the many activities our congregation has planned.

Our services are held Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Celebrations, B’nai Mitzvah and other additions will appear in the monthly schedule. It is wonderful to be a full service synagogue for our community.

Our spiritual leader, Rabbi David White, is available to our members and our community. Rabbi White can be reached by calling 707.642.6526; please leave a message and he will get back to you. Rabbi White is available for hospital or condolence visits, counseling, or to answer any of your questions.

We celebrate many of our holidays together. Our celebrations include:
 Full services for the High Holy Days/Days of Awe
 An apples, honey and champagne reception on Erev Rosh Hashanah
 A communal potluck “Break the Fast” following Yom Kippur
 A Sukkah in our courtyard where we have congregational activities between Sukkot and Simchat Torah
 Dancing around the sanctuary, carrying our Torahs on Simchat Torah
 Our annual Boutique at Chanukah
 A fun-filled reading of Megillat Esther on Purim
 A shared memorial service for Yom HaShoah
 Yom Ha’Atzmaut, an Israel Independence Day celebration with wonderful Israeli food
 An Annual Second Night Passover Seder that resounds with joy and the spirit of our community

We have a Youth Education Program in Judaic studies for all ages, including preschool. The Youth Education Program includes a Sanctuary program to teach the liturgy heard at services. Children from third grade and up have Hebrew school scheduled on Sundays, as well as B’nai Mitzvah classes for the older students. Rabbi White has meetings for Adult Education. There are additional courses taught by visiting Rabbis or Jewish Educators. For more information, please contact B’nai Israel’s Synagogue Administrator, Sue Barush, at cbi.amarkal@gmail.com.
