Recently Congregation B’nai Israel held our annual International Night. This is a social event featuring entertainment and food from around the world.
The Social Hall was filled with singing, dancing, laughing and lots of food and drink. A good time was had by all.
Looking at the membership of our Synagogue, we could say that every night is International Night because our congregants are from every corner of the globe.
At any Sabbath or Holiday Service or social event, if you ask where folks are from, you will hear references to many parts of the United States and many countries. Fascinating how a group of people from so many origins have become part of the B’nai Israel family. We have gathered here to carry on the traditions handed to us by our ancestors and pass those traditions to our children.
Yes, International Night was a wonderful event filled with food and entertainment. A great success, and why not? We are an international Congregation.
Speaking of passing traditions to the next generation, at the Yom Kipper appeal I proposed a goal of refurbishing and refreshing the Religious School classrooms.
Several angels among us have been working on this project. Fresh paint, new floors, lighting and more. Other angels contributed money for this cause. We are well on the way to having beautiful new classrooms.
So I continue my Yom Kipper appeal. Please donate to the new classrooms. Our goal is to have an excellent learning environment for our children.
The next social event at B’nai Israel is the annual TLC Concert. December 6. Food will be served at 5:00pm and the concert will begin at 6:00pm. We will be celebrating the first night of Chanukah with an array of talented musicians and raising funds to help B’nai Israel members with medical expenses.
B’nai Israel is a house of worship and an educational institution, but when it comes to social events, we sure know how to throw a party!
