Presidentâs Message 1/22/16
Monday, February 8 is the Congregational meeting to elect the new slate of Officers and Directors of B’nai Israel. Please attend, we need and appreciate the participation of all our members.
I am honored to have been nominated for President. This will be my sixth year in the position. Thank you and my thanks to the members of the Board of Directors for working with me.
When I began my first year as President, we were in survival mode. I observed the closing of Synagogues around the country. I studied the Synagogues that had closed and reached the conclusion that there are three reasons that cause most of these closures.
1) Debt
2) Rabbinical Instability
3) Leadership Instability
I am happy to report that B’nai Israel is strong and healthy in these three areas. We have no debt. Rabbi White has been our Spiritual leader for over 12 years and is a blessing to us all. The Officers and Directors are a group of talented and dedicated people who work together to keep our Shul alive and well.
Recently Rabbi White said, “God did not create us just to survive, but to be partners with God.” Rather than looking to survive, we are looking to the future. This is symbolized by the remodling and refurbishing of our Religious School classrooms. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of our members, these classrooms are a place where our children will prepare to become B’nai Mitzvah. We can look forward to this next generation to continue the work of Congregation B’nai Israel, to serve the Jewish community of Solano County.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the Congregational meeting, February 8, 7:00pm.
