PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – June 2022
We’ve been working on rebuilding our synagogue community, and so far, we’ve had several gatherings to renew connections among our members. We had a women-led Saturday service, with a great drash by Mary Schwartz; our second Havdalah Game Night, with new friends and members; and our first summer Sha’BarBQ and Shabbat service in the courtyard, starting off with Open Mic time and poems by our own Bernie Goldberg. We hope to get more Open Mic speakers for our July 8 Sha’BarBQ.
We are looking forward to our August 21 Open House, leading into the Fall High Holy Days beginning the last week of September. We are looking for some sponsors to help us provide Israeli food for our Open House, so I hope some of our members are feeling generous! We plan to inviste some special local guests, to create better understanding and supportive allies in our local community.
So we have some events to bring us together. Now I would love to see our members take ownership of these events and support them, both with helping set them up, help provide food, and help with clean-up. I love supporting CBI with my efforts, but if others can pitch in, it will not only be more fun, but we will get to know each other and become a more cohesive community. I would like to see more of our members doing work and fun things together, and if it ensures our synagogue will last for the next generation, even better! Please check out our committees to find where you can help, and support our efforts to help us grow.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Gewing
